  • How to create Doc Template?

    Hi,

    Unlike Office 2003 i getting hard to create a document template on Office 2007, anyone?

    I think you are asking how to create a template in Office 2007? If not, please explain your question a bit better.

    Basically, to save a file as a template (this is for Word 2007 but others will be similar):
    1) Click the Office Button
    2) Select SAVE AS
    3) Select Word Template
    4) Save as usual

      Sorry, not working!
      the way that you describe is the way to create template on Office 2003.
      For some reason it doesn't work on Office 2007....

        Works for me.
        Save As and Word Template.

        Can you post what bits don't work for you, rather than just "not working"
        What do you try, are there error messages etc.

          Working fine for me, and I was trying it in Word 2007 as stated.

          Can you explain what you are doing and what error you get?

            Well i have tried in 2 ways:
            The first i have opened a document (Originally made in Office 2003) with the design i would like as a template, press the big window button and select save as->Word Template, then i saved the document at Documents and settings-> my user name-> application data->Microsoft->templates.
            the second way i have tried the same but this time with new template from scratch...same result!

                    O.k it get starnger...
                    When i'm opening Word 2007 application and press new i'm getting my desired template (also when i'm trying to edit the Normal template).
                    it's seems that only when i'm opening a new document by pressing right click and select new from the menu...

                      That's what Templates are for... if you want to change what a new document will ALWAYS look like, change the "Normal" (or Default) template. If you want to make a new template, you will only get that template when you select "Office...New..." and choose your template from the list.

                        But That's the problem - i'm not getting my custom template when i'm making new document through the right click menu (i'm getting the default instead)
                        i can get my custom template only when i'm opening word application...

                          right click where -- on the desktop or within Word?
                          (While we're at it, what OS is your PC running?)

                            right click on my desktop and My OS is Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3.

                              If you right click your desktop and select "New Word Document" (or similar) you will only get a document based on the normal template
