I am looking for some feedback or opinions.

My customer has an SBS 2011 server in one city with several shared folders. We have a branch office about 300km away with many PC users. The two locations are connected with a site-to-site VPN. The users at the remote location are not members of the domain, but they do access the shares at the parent company using network credentials.

The branch office is growing by leaps and bounds. I would like to install a branch (member) server in the remote and set up a DFS and replicate all the company shares. Is this a practical solution over VPN?

    Thanks,

Yes, depending on the speed of your VPN
I would do the initial replication in one site and ship the server to the other once it is completed.
