  • Question on subnets

    Hi,

    IPv4 range is 131.107.40.0/22 network

    they want 280 computers on A , ,130 on B 75 on C, 20 on D

    The answer is A 131.107.40.0/23
    B 131.107.42.0/24
    C 131.107.43.0/25
    D 131.107.43.128/27

Which /24 network I thought that would give 256 hosts but they require 280?

    Re: Question on subnets

A /24 gives you 8 bits for hosts which gives you 256-2 for network and broadcast. So the actual usable addresses is 254. Answer A is a /23 which would would give you 510 usable hosts which would meet the requirements.
