  • Can't ping Depositfiles.com

Firstly sorry if this is the wrong section where to post my problem but I'm not sure if it's Windows or network issue.

    • I can't go to Depositfiles.com web site, I get the "unable to connect" message.
    • I tried to ping it and got a "general failure" message.
    • http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com tells me that Depositfiles is up and running.
    • I am able to go to Depositfiles through an online web proxy such as hidemyass.com but the download links don't work.

Now I'm getting frustrated about this, is there any ms-dos command I can use to troubleshoot it?

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with admin rights.
    Thanks in advance.

I suspect your ISP has blocked the site as it may contain inappropriate/illegal materials
They should be your first point of contact

Moving thread to general networking as it is unlikely to be Win7 specific

Thanks very much for quick support.
I wanted a second opinion (after mine) so then Australian medias mock and pity the Chinese great firewall while our Government "silently" block websites without making this information publicly available?
I also strongly believe that Google is blocking any information and working with Government, I can't believe I'm the only one experiencing such problem so that no one else is complaining about it?

Internode, they already replayed to my query by saying it could be the modem, swap modem etc. etc. same usual stuff.
BTW they promised to replay further I think after the 1st of January.

PS: Internode is using Telstra hardware in my area, adsl speed and damn expensive and no chances to have adsl2!

It was Malwarebytes blocking depositfiles.com web page but not displaying the message.
            Problem fixed.

Strange because i use MalwareBytes on my system and it never blocked it.

Are you sure your system is clean from viruses/malware/rootkits??

There is apparently a trojan that calls itself ping.exe

                wullieb1 you're a God!
It seems like you're right, please check the screenshot.

It's the case to move my post in a different location or create another?
                Thanks for help.

First thing to do would be to head over to here

                  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic434100.html

and see if you really are infected.

Does a MalwareBytes scan show anything??

I'll ask to get this moved to the misc forum if it turns out that you are infected.

That screenshot looks fine to me, ping.exe does exist normally too.
Can you post what you see when you do ping depositfiles.com please?
                    cheers

                        Re: Can't ping Depositfiles.com

Looks valid so I would say it is less likely a virus/malware etc. Although always good to check. A quick google indicates that deposit files has been blocked by malwarebytes before and an update fixed it so may it was this again.

                          Re: Can't ping Depositfiles.com

Yeah it does look ok but never hurts to check something off the list.

Andy, That was from October so i didn't think it was relevant (MalwareBytes will nag you if the DB s out of date) hence the reason i never mentioned it. I also presumed, yes i know before you say anything lol, that MalwareBytes was up to date.

Never mind looks all fixed now.

Bloody hell I got to deal with day by day life issues and no much time is left for computer, NO discard it my real life is with my computer

PS: I manually eliminated heaps of Nero's leftover rubbish from the registry and browsers load decisively faster, just a case??

ccleaner would give you a good look at most of the things that run on both windows and browser startup (or you could use sysinternals autoruns.
