  • single ip assign to two computer on same network

    Dear Friends ,

    I have an ip address 192.168.10.210 which assign to one computer and i want to use only this ip address to another one computer on same network.

    what shoul i do ..

    please reply...

    You cannot give the same IP address to two computers -- your only solution is to turn off (or disconnect) the first one and then connect the second one.

    Better, re-organise your network so you do not need to issue duplicate IPs -- I cannot think of any reason why you should want to do so.

        You could do this with NAT but this is usually only done when two different networks may share the same internal ip space (Company merger acquisition etc). Is this for some sort of load balancing?

          ya it's not possible but i made it possible by putting some restriction on my vlan based network.

            not load balancing sir , it's just what u thaught . i did it possible and it's working fine...

              I am also interested why you would want to do this...

              Its like you and your next door neighbour both change you house number to 5, get the postman to deliver a letter... where does he post it??

              One house or the other... so somebody wont get their letter...

              Maybe you could one up as a span-port for the other?? Not sure your switch will be too chuffed though
