  • Wireless Access points

My company has 3 main offices. One in Canada and 2 in Asia. Right now each office is using crappy home type wireless routers for their wireless access points. They've been doing an ok job but we are upgrading many things in our networks and are considering a more expensive AP. We are looking at the HP Procurve MSM310 WW access point. They are about $410. I'm just wondering what the benefit is to go with a more expensive WAP.
    Reliability? Better Security? Faster?

It could be either or none of the above.
It all depends on our needs and requirements.
Ie, How many clients, What WNICs are used, etc etc

        Re: Wireless Access points

Usually the business/enterprise AP's have alot more features that you won't find on your everyday wireless router/AP. Also those AP's may be able to be used with a Wireless Lan Controller where you can configure and monitor all your AP's from the controller itself. Cisco uses a lightweight IOS code for AP's connecting to a controller. where most if not all of the config on the AP is done on the controller and not the physical AP. This makes deployment and management much easier.
