  • What ports are open/closed in my netowrk?

    Hi everyone,

How can I find out whether a specific port is opened or closed in a network?

Lets take as an example a LAN of computers with a firewall in between LAN and outside.
Without looking at the firewall configs, how can I query an internal computer to test port 443 is opened/closed?
Also, knowing the public IP of the network, how can I test it from a computer outside the LAN?

I know there are lots of tool on the net that do the job, though I am looking for a Microsoft tool or NTSTAT? I know NTSTAT is a powerfull tool, but I just dont know how to.....

Thanks in advance for your replies!!

    Nmap will do both.

To be honest you should always know what ports are our open on your firewall especially if that firewall is connected to an untrusted network ( The Internet) Unless you are not the admin of said network?
