  • Fibre to Copper port drops

right, we have two buildings with a fibre link between them.

the fibre goes into a "Mini5" media convertor, which is connected to a Netgear GS724TP switch

recently the connection has been dropping. one of the switches shows that network port the media convertor is plugged into has dropped

if you pull the network cable out of the port on the switch an try another port, the connection comes back up. but will drop after 1hr (ish)

i have tried disabling PoE an auto negotiation but it didnt seem to make an difference.

im thinking that the switch could see the port as having unusual high traffic an thinks its a dos attack an stopping the port|? just an idea?

    any one have any ideas!?

I would swap out the media converter with a known good unit, usually switches won't admin down a port because of the volume of traffic, (unless this logic has been configured).
