  • Network discovery and diagramming

Looking for a basic and free Network Discovery and Mapping tool. Not really interested in management, more of creating several diagrams that I can break down by hardware type, etc and update when necessary. I used to use Dude but I'm struggling to get the discovery defined for a range of IP in one subnet (unless anyone knows) and development I believe was withdrawn.

I've looked into the many free trial versions, but since I only want to use it periodically, shelling out doesn't seem cost effective.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, half of the ones listed here are free:
Spiceworks network monitor is free too.
Solarwinds Network Topology Mapper has been my favorite but it's not cheap.

I do tend to think 'outside the box' so others may not always share the same views.

    MCITP -W7,
MCSA+Messaging, CCENT, ICND2 slowly getting around to.

Thanks for that, I went back to Dude in the end.
