  • One-way ping

    I administer a small business network. Recently we have installed a Linux box which a client would like to access via SSH externally. After setting up the required configuration in the router however, I've run into a small snag.

    Basically, the router cannot see the Linux box. Any other (Windows) box on the network can ping both the router and the Linux box, and the Linux box can ping the router, but the router cannot ping the Linux box. There are no firewalls in place on either the router of the Linux box.

    I've never come across anything quite like this before, so any help to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

    what linux distro do you have installed?
    is iptables turned on?
