  • Network Issue

    Hi All,

I have a remote windows 2003 server. I am able to ping and remote the server. however from the remote server i am not able to ping my servers over here. I've noticed that the traffic from the remote server is not hitting the firewall. i am not sure where to begin with the troubleshooting. Someone please advise.

    Re: Network Issue

Some more info would help us greatly:
    • Does this remote server have more than one network card?
    • Does the remote server have any of its network cards firewalls via a software firewall?
    • Have you noticed any other network traffic being dropped?

There are many things that would make a ping not return. Do a tracert from the remote server to a server where you are and see where the traffic stops. It could be that your remote server is blocking ICMP at it's own software firewall. Any network device along the path could be dropping the ICMP as well.
