    Hi All ,
A good day to you.I have more than 600 users in my organisation some of them are windows xp and windows 98 se.Recently from 15 days some of the windows 98 users are getting disconnect intermittently from their gateway router which is cisco 1700 series. When i ping the gateway from client pc it reply but after 10-15 reply it comes with "request timed out".At the time of "Request Timed Out" to gateway i tried to ping one of the host of my network
i am able to ping and also able to transfer some data.Windows xp pcs are working ok.Only win98 pcs are not able to access internet router sometime.

I thought it might be some virus issue i have re-install OS but nothig can help. Then i replaced Connected hub even if i repaced Cisco Router also still i am unable to get a steble connection to my gateway router. If anyone can make me release from this issue. Thanks in advance.I really need help !!!

It sounds like some worms are spreading throughout the network. Did you checked the Win98 workstations with some antivirus software? The best solution is to isolate all the Win98 workstations, do a complete virus check, after scanning for virus try and Spybot search&destroy application. I could try to install one Win98 on one machine without network cable attached, put a good firewall then connect it in your lan and see if the issue appear again

Start a sniffer trace and monitor the traffic.
        See what is happening.
