  • networking authentication problem xp-vista

    Hello,
I'll try to explain my problem as short as possible.
    I got 2 computers:
    1 xp
    1 vista

I got a network between them- Wifi.
when trying to type - to access the vista computer:
    \\vista-comp\c$

I get prompt for an authentication window, I type the vista user and password and I get full access to c drive, and thats fine.

Now when triyng to do the opposite from vista to xp,
    \\xp-comp\c$

I get same window, but now the user name is grey, and it is written inside the vista user, and not the XP one... with no option to change it.
Only password field is ok, but with wrong user name(vista user) I cannot access the xp.

What am I doing worng? or not configerating something?

    Please help,
    Thanks,

    Hey...........

Simple one, on your XP box......

    Open My computer------->Tools--------->Folder option------->View

Uncheck last the setting "Use simple file sharing".

    It will work for sure.............
