  • add wireless router with switch ports available

I would like to have wired connection option to wireless router #2 that is connected wirelessly to another (primary) Internet enabled Wireless router #1.

router #1 - wireless router provides Internet connection

router #2 - wireless router with Ethernet ports.
Need to be connected wirelessly to router #1 and than allow Internet connection by Ethernet ports.

    Is it doable?
Does it require business grade devices?

If standard wireless routers are capable to make work this scenario what features should be enabled in config of router #2.

    Thanks.

What you're looking for is a wireless bridge.

If router #2 is compatible with DD-WRT then you can install that on the router and configure it as a wireless bridge. Otherwise you'll need to get a wireless bridge or a router that is compatible with DD-WRT.

Note: DD-WRT is not the only open source router firmware out there but I can't speak to any others. I know DD-WRT is good.

USe DD-WRT router but be sure you set up bridge as Repeater Bridge.
Your main router- Internet connection- does not have to be DD-WRT.

I am using a Buffalo Tech WZR-300HP but there are others that will work.

I just spent hours setting up same network.
