  • Alcatel SpeedTouch Home help PLEASE !!

I have read the excellent directions on this site for upgrading my Speedtouch Home to the Pro version.

Unfortunately, my modem doesn't answer to 10.0.0.138 !!

Thus, I can't login to my modem or get the MAC address.

    I am at a loss.

    PLEASE help !!

I have tried telnet 10.0.0.138 and it says:
Connecting To 10.0.0.138...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

    and ftp 10.0.0.138 says:
    Connected to 10.0.0.138.
    Connection closed by remote host.

And I can't ping it. I'm guessing that isn't the address of the modem !!

So, how do I find out what it is ??

    PLEASE help !!

    Thanks,
    Rick

Make sure the modem is turned on and is connected to your "network". Go to a Command Prompt and type arp -a IP and MAC addresses should be shown. It is now just a matter of elimination.

Post back if this still doesn't work.
    1 1 was a racehorse.
    2 2 was 1 2.
    1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
    2 2 1 1 2

Cheers Biggles - thanks for the quick reply !

Unfortunately, arp -a comes back with 'No ARP entries found'

      Any ideas ?

(and yes, I have 'reset' the modem via the reset button on the back - telnet, ftp or ping still can't find 10.0.0.13

      Cheers,
      Rick
