  • ISA server behind DSL router

we thinking install ISA 2006 will run as FIREWALL and PROXY maybe NAT behind DSL router
WAN interface: Assinged Automatically ip address, DG, DNS from ISP
LAN interface: static same ip range of internal network 192.168.0.x
    NAT: enabled

should I keep DSL WAN interface get IP address from ISP, and give ip from different subnet DSL LAN----ISA external NIC 192.168.1.x

    internal ISA NIC 192.168.0.x
    DNS: internal DNS
    DG: ISA ip address
i m sure you have better ideas to do my job right way

    thanks in advance

I never like putting a dynamic IP on an ISA interface. It can be done, but I prefer not to have to allow DHCP through the external interface. If you don't have a static IP I'd use the modem, give ISA a static private IP on a different range from the internal and let the modem handle DHCP to the internet.

Don't put any DNS servers on your ISA's external NIC, use only internal DNS and only on the internal NIC or ISA will get confused. If you need to use your ISP's DNS servers for anything set them up as forwarders in your internal DNS servers.
