  • Broadband fails intermittantly in office network

    Hi Everyone,

We recently shifted to a new office. We have a broadband connection connected to a Cisco catalyst Switch 3560 to which all our PCS are connected. It si a windows network. Everything was fine for about 1 week and then, we started losing internet connection. The Ethernet LED in the broadband router would go off. Internet LED would be fine. Once we move the cable from broadband router to some other port of the switch (in a different segment - say, if the cable is in 47th port, it won't work in 42nd port too, but in 10th port it will work), it starts working.

It happens thrice in a day. I changed to a Cisco 2950 switch, we had the same issue. We had a similar issue earlier, when one of the desktop had virus. After isolating it, we didn't have any problem. But, this time, scanned all the desktops and could not locate any virus. Can someone guide me on how to solve this?

Have you tried a different router?

No, but, if we connect a single laptop directly to the broadband router, it works.
