When i try to telnet my modem as in the guide(telnet in command prompt)... i get this message ...could not open connection to the host, on port 23. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
i am stuck and dont know what to do...

Have you tried browsing to the ip address? It may have some kind of web admin.

      Can you ping it?

yer there is an admin thing but i cant really see anything there...
i get a response when i ping it...i thought it might have been a small thing like a firewall or something enabled that shouldn't be though i disabled zonealarm and all other firewall programs and unticked it on the LAN connection setup dialog yer i dont know.
Putty doesn't work for some reason...i can download it fine but it says something like this app isn't configured correctly.
btw im trying to convert my alcatel speed touch home to pro if i didnt mention before.
