  • how to start a web server behind eci router ?

    Hi,

i have an eci 270 modem as a router, does any body know how to configure it so that if i want to start a web server on my pc, people from outside my local network could see it.
Allso i would like to grant access to my pc via vnc.

    Thanks.

You need to forward the relevant ports to your local IP address. So for example port 80 for HTTP and 5900 (or 5800) for VNC.

So when the internet user types in the IP address of your router into their web browser (eg 83.122.76.12) it then forwards this to the internal ip address of your PC. You need to ensure that your router doesn't listen on port 80 on its external interface for the web admin otherwise it will probably throw a bit of a wobbly!

(i upgraded the firmware and the gui is abit different from what it shows in the official eci guide that shows the older gui)

If you have the manual there will be a description on how to port forward. It may also be called pin holing (or pinholing).

The following link has the manual. Read the whole manual, but pay extra attention from page 32 on.
