  • Backup Flash from PIX to TFTP

    Hello,
I have 2 PIX506e and I wanted to backup the ios from these to my TFTP server just as I did from my 3 2600 series routers. However I am having a harder time with this. I believe that the command I am looking for is:

    PIX#Write Net <TFTP IP ADDRESS> : <FLASH FILE NAME>

However when I try to locate the flash file name using:

    PIX#sh ver

    Code:
       Pix# sh ver
      Cisco PIX Firewall Version 6.3(1)
Cisco PIX Device Manager Version 3.0(1)

Pix up 1 min 2 secs

Hardware: PIX-506E, 32 MB RAM, CPU Pentium II 300 MHz
      Flash E28F640J3 @ 0x300, 8MB
      BIOS Flash AM29F400B @ 0xfffd8000, 32KB
I dont see it, I also issued

    PIX#sh flash

    But I only received

    Code:
       Pix# sh flash
      flash file system: version:3 magic:0x12345679
        file 0: origin: 0 length:1925176
        file 1: origin: 1966080 length:3327
        file 2: origin: 2097152 length:1923
        file 3: origin: 2752512 length:3126944
        file 4: origin: 0 length:0
        file 5: origin: 8257536 length:308
    Any ideas, hints or tips?

Re: Backup Flash from PIX to TFTP

    Hi Sergio

The Write Net command only backs up the config and not the image. I did find the following comment in another forum:

"Unfortunately you can't. On Cisco PIX (at least on 6.x you can backup the
    config only."

I am also trying to find a way of backup the IOS before doing an upgrade but it doesn't look good so far.

    Regards
