  • Cisco ASA 5505 - Accessing ASDM

After manually configuring the two vLan's on my Cisco ASA 5505, I am trying to get back into the ASDM launcher but it wont let me. I change the outside ethernet/0(vLan2) to be my outside with a 10.10.10.0 ip to be compliant with the servers. The ethernet/1 (vLan1) was config to be 172.16.1.44. Now when I want to get into the the ASDM launcher to change other settings, it will not let me connect. What do i need to do to get back into ASDM while saving my settings(not having to reformat)

You need to specify what interfaces and subnets are permitted to access the box. By default only the original dhcp subnet is allowed to access the ASDM on the inside interface. You can add the following to allow inside access from any workstation, although you should limit it to your network management subnet:

    http 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 inside

    Other protocol access is similar:

    telnet 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 inside
    ssh 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 inside

You should never allow access to outside, although the box will permit it. You should build a VPN tunnel first if it's required to manage the box remotely from outside your network.
