  • How to reset Cisco pix 501 (factory setting)without having password?

    Hi ...

I have a Cisco Pix 501 with no password. I want to learn and setit up for the network.

What I have is a CISCO PIX BOX , ethernet cable. How do I proceed? I am new to Cisco and would really appreciate your help.

    Thanks
    Aru

There are two ways to configure it. Using PDM or via the console cable. The PDM is a gui but needs to be enabled. The console should already work but both may need the password.
If you don't have it we need to run through the password recovery here:

There are some configs on the cisco site too:

Thanks a lot for the link.

How do I know which version I have in my pix because I need to download the binary file as specified in the link?

Have a look when it boots up, I think it shows you then (don't have one to hand at the moment). It will likely be 6.3 though.
