  • Alter DNS response through PIX/ASA(Was: route mail.domain.com to internal ip address)

Hope someone can help me with this issue will appreciate any idea you have.

    System information:
    Cisco pix 501 ver 6.3
Windows 2003 server with argosoft mail server 1.0.6

    Issue-
when trying to use my pop3 inside the network with the following setting mail.domain.com outlook return no respond from server. when using internal ip address everything work fine.

I would like to be able to use mail.domain.com inside my network as well as outside of it.

Does the pix have this ability to route all internal request of mail.domain.com to the internal ip ?

    Thanks

You may be able to use the alias command I believe to alter DNS but you may find it better to setup split DNS internally.

    Split DNS

Alias command - need to test:
