  • ASA - Active Standby Failover Help

    Hi,

I have got a pair of ASA 5510's that I am about to put in place of a single PIX515.

My question is this, is it possible to have an HSRP Address for the Firewalls?

    My concern is this :

    If you have this :
    interface Ethernet0
    nameif outside
    security-level 0
    ip address 172.16.1.1 255.255.0.0 standby 172.16.1.2

So if my default gateway issues to my workstations is 172.16.1.1 and the primary device
fails, how will my clients get to the gateway as the standby is 172.16.1.2.

    Thanks

My understanding is that the standby PIX will take over the config should the primary fail so it will "become" .1
    Test it out!
    cheers
