  • VPN users unable to connect to Exchange via Outlook

We have a Cisco ASA 5510 Security Plus appliance that we currently use. Users connecting via VPN are suddenly not able to connect to our Exchange server via Outlook. If they use the Microsoft Outlook Web Access address they have no issues. If the same computer (laptops) are brought into the office and connected to the network there is no problem connecting to Exchange via Outlook.

I can ping, browse and RDP to the server with no problem.

We've had issues with our Exchange server recently but it was all related to information stores, etc. I don't see any reason why those steps would have caused the issue.

Re: VPN users unable to connect to Exchange via Outlook

What version of Outlook and Exchange and what do you see if you open outlook with /rpcdiag?
What type of connection are you using RPC/HTTPS, mapi etc?
Has the ASA been rebooted or had any config change?

If you can ping and connect to the names that are setup in outlook and the config is the same then this thread may be moved to the Exchange forums rather than Cisco security in a bit!.
    cheers
