    hi there!

    i am facing problem with my cisco pix525. IOS version is 7.2

    a) sometimes automatically stops responding. both interfaces lost connectivity.
    b) active LED turns off.
    c) the only way to alive firewall is to turn off and turn on again.
    d) after restart, works fine but system date changes to Jan 1993.

    any help pls.

    Sounds like the battery is dead. I know on the 506 it was quite easy to unscrew and change it although you have to be really careful with the metal clip.

    If it is out of warranty, you don't want to speak to cisco and you have permission I would open it up and replace the battery.

    Best course of action is to speak with Cisco though.
    You may find it is on its way out anyway.

    Disclaimer - of course you could completely kill the device so it is at your own risk.

      thanx a lot for your precious comments.

      you have confirmed my suspect that i might be a battery problem. yes you are right i can kill my device but no advantage to kill an already dead device :P

        If you are happy and understand the risks then it is worth doing. I have had 2 506 so far that started working again after replacing the battery (bios reset pretty much).
