  • Cisco 877 upload rate limiting

    Hello

    I'm trying to invoke rate-limiting on a Cisco 877, IOS 12.4(24). Specifically, I want to restrict FTP traffic from my LAN to remote sites, such that it doesn't drown the ADSL line for everyone else.

    I've been following this excellent blog, which does something similar for downloads, but I want to limit uploads.

    I have applied these commands:

    Code:
    time-range peak
        periodic weekdays 9:00 to 17:59

    time-range off-peak
        periodic weekdays 0:00 to 8:59
        periodic weekdays 18:00 to 23:59
        periodic weekend 0:00 to 23:59

    ip access-list extended peak
        permit ip any any time-range peak

    class-map match-any low-priority
        match protocol ftp

    class-map match-any medium-priority

    class-map match-any high-priority
     match protocol http
     match protocol skype

    class-map match-all peak-low-priority
     match access-group name peak
     match class-map low-priority

    class-map match-all peak-medium-priority
     match access-group name peak
     match class-map medium-priority

    class-map match-all peak-high-priority
     match access-group name peak
     match class-map high-priority

    class-map match-all peak-default-priority
     match access-group name peak
     match not class-map low-priority
     match not class-map medium-priority
     match not class-map high-priority

    policy-map peak
    class peak-default-priority
    set dscp 1
    class peak-low-priority
    set dscp 2
    class peak-medium-priority
    set dscp 3
    class peak-high-priority
    set dscp 4

    interface ATM0
        rate-limit output dscp 1 64000 6000 12000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
        rate-limit output dscp 2 16000 4470 6000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
        rate-limit output dscp 3 128000 24000 48000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
        rate-limit output dscp 4 1024000 192000 384000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop

      interface ATM0
         service-policy output peak
    All commands are accepted as valid, but when I issue sh policy-map int ATM0 I see that my packets are not getting tagged, and therefore the policy is not being applied.

    I've tried input, and output, and I've tried VLAN1, Dialer0 and ATM0, all with no luck (yes...guesswork).

    Can anyone spot what I am missing please?

    Many thanks,

    Jim

    Re: Cisco 877 upload rate limiting

    Are you runnning 12.4(24)T? I think this may be a bug in that version.

      Re: Cisco 877 upload rate limiting

      Sorry for the delayed reply, email notifications don't work (in my case, anyway) on this board.

      Hmmm....just my luck to have a version with a bug.....

      Many thanks anyway.
