  • General question

    Hi all

Recently joined a company they have 3 Cisco 3550 Catalyst Switches.

Now basically over night my pc lost its network connection and this was only fixed by moving the patch cable into another port on the same switch.

I noted at the same time that there was a sticker on another port stating it was dead and shouldn't be used.

I know these are old but do the ports actually just give up like that or could it be another issue?

    Thanks

    Re: General question

It is possible for ports to go bad.

        Re: General question

        Hi All,

Thought I would update this that by using the Cisco Network Assistant, I could see that it was errors on the port. I could reset these depending on the errors so in essence wasn't a hardware fault.

        Thanks

          Thanks for keeping us posted.

Keep an eye on the ports over the next few weeks to make sure they're behaving properly.
