      Looks like maxboy likes to post dead links. Im not sure if your questions are serious or not but a switch is just a multi port bridge. Typically older "bridges" had only 2 ports to extend the lan. Each port on the bridge is a separate collision domain. So just think of a switch as a multi-port bridge. Each port on the switch is its own collision domain, which lets you have full duplex communication. On cisco switches by default all ports are in the same broadcast domain "Vlan 1"
