  • How to Configure a new Cisco Aironet 3800 Wireless AP

I bought a new cisco Aironet 3800 AP but i am really having difficulty to configure it. in the read me documents i read that it need a controller , i dont know that that controller is all about. Can a single Aironet be configured and integrated into a LAN. can someone help me how to start the config. I already have good idea of configuring wireless AP but not the Aironet.

Cisco Aironet Series 2800/3800 Access Point Deployment Guide

If I have read this correctly, the 3800 does not support the legacy autonomous mode but In the above link you can use Cisco Mobility Express Solution to deploy the 3800 without using a physical controller.

Thanks for the documentation, i dont understand how to begin the installation. for example for a normal access point you can directly login to the http interface and configure but it is a different for the aironet. please give me a little push

ci also understand the Aironet 3800 is a master controller which is used to manage other Cisco Aironet AP. Can I just used a single Aironet 3800 and deploy to my LAN

Check the port on the switch and see if it is on.

Are you using a Power Injector or POE?
                      Is it a POE port?
                      Does it delivery enough power?
What is the switch, managed or dumb?
Have you tried connecting directly into the switch?
