  • Analyze Network Traffic on PIX

    Hi there,

    I have several question about analyzing the network traffic from a Cisco PIX 515E.

    The first thing I am doing is to fetch the 'a value' via SNMP:

    snmpwalk -v2c -c public firewall .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10
    ...
    IF-MIB::ifInOctets.2 = Counter32: 1689381836
    ...
    # snmpwalk -v2c -c public firewall .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.16
    ...
    IF-MIB::ifOutOctets.2 = Counter32: 733047276
    ...

    What is this value, how can I calculate this in kb? Can I just calc Octets/1024/1024 to get a valid kb value? Or is there any other (better) value?

    My other question is: how can I measure the used bandwidth on all used interfaces on the PIX? I want to generate a weekly (or daily) report so I can how much traffic is used and so on. So any 3rd party tool which generates their own graphs is not enough for me (I have already ASDM installed).

    Thanks,
    karellen
