  • Subnets and VLANs

    Hello,

Im trying to do a exercise for days now and now im totally stuck. I need to the following piece of mine exercise:

For the VLANs attached to BRANCH, use the address space 192.168.1.0/24. Starting with the largest host requirement, assign subnets in order for all VLANs.
    • VLAN 15 needs space for 100 hosts
    • VLAN 25 needs space for 50 hosts
    • VLAN 1 needs space for 20 hosts
    • VLAN 99 needs space for 20 hosts
I have been looking at this for ages and it got me wondering is it even possible making space for hosts in 4 diffrent vlans with only the addressing space of 192.168.1.0.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Re: Subnets and VLANs

Well, the 100 host one will be:
    192.168.1.0 /25
    Network 192.168.1.0
    Hosts 1.1 -- 1.126
    Broadcast 192.168.1.127
CIDR and VLSM to sort out the others

Note we don't make a habit of doing peoples homework for them, but I'll make an exception just this once.

I think his question was how to get the required hosts from the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet. Of course using vlsm but how many bits per subnet will give you the required number of hosts etc
