  • cisco layer 2 Management vlan

I am setting up a building using cisco layer 2 switches on the 1st, second and 3rd floors. All of the layer 2 switches are connecting to two 6506 switches over dot1q trunks and the layer 3 vlans have been created on the 6506 switches with hsrp. My question is this:

should the layer 2 switches ip default-gateway be the ip of the managment vlan on the 6506 or the hsrp address ?

all of the switches involved have the same subnet for the management vlan.

    thanks

Re: cisco layer 2 Management vlan

Is the management vlan using hsrp? If so just set it as the standby ip for that vlan. If not just set it as the management vlan SVI's ip address and set your vlan ip address on the switch with an ip in that subnet.
