  • finding 1760 original confreg setting

hi, i have recieved a cisco 1760 router that was used and had a password on the console acces, usually from console i can get to the >, do a "show version" and record the original confreg setting.

i now have the confreg set to 0x142 and was able to wipe the router configuration, yet i am unable to get it to start and apply the startup-config.

is there any way to find the correct confreg setting?

well.. you wiped the startup config, so it won't start by itself.
You'll need to reload the config file, probably by hand and then save it as startup-config

(assuming I understand correctly what you have done, and are trying to acheive)

0x142 wipes the startup-config so if you have a backup just log back in to the router and change the config-register to 0x2102 so it doesnt bypass the startup config, apply your config, save your changes and reload the router
