  • strange configuration register value

I just found out that my configuration register is 0x783... (after typing sh ver in my cisco 851)

Iv'e been trying to google it and haven't found anything related.
(I also checked CISCO Router configuration register webpage)

Now, my router is working perfectly fine (i mean it's loading the startup-configuration file after a reload) but i'm curious to know what is this value and how did it get there? should i change it to the deafult 0x2102?

    thank you in advance!

    I will change my question..

Is it safe to change the configuration register to 0x2102 on any cisco router
    (or 851 in my case)?

    thanks

Yes it should be save to change it.
However before doing this I would make sure I've a good backup of the config.

I changed it to 0x2102 and after a reload everything seems to be ok.

        thank you!
