  • Wireless Guest/Employee Network.

The Wireless Network is setup as follows( There is a simple diagram attached to this post)

1 AVAYA AP-6 Wireless Access Point
    2. Cisco Catalyst 4507

The AP currently has no VLANS defined and has an IP Address of 172.22.28.x which is currently defined as VLAN 5 (Wireless Subnet) on the switch. The scope of the project now requires that a wireless guest network be defined on the AP along with employee network. The catalyst has an IP of 172.22.4.x (VLAN 1).

If I define a VLAN 6 (Guest ) on the switch, change the port that the AP is connected to from Static to trunking, and add the Vlans on the AP (VLAN 5 and 6), can I keep the current IP Address of the AP the same (172.22.28.x) or do I have to change it to a management VLAN 1 IP that the switch belongs to? Any help would be appreciated.
