• 857w <-> C3550

good afternoon Ya'll..
I've read some of the posts, you seem to be bunch of nice people.. help me out ?
im not lazy, just confused..
857w integrated ADSL router ---> got that part connected and actually got an IP from my ISP.
3550 --> catalyst L3 switch ---> works and routers data properly between the 10.100.100.0/24 and 10.10.10.0/24 IP ranges.

I have connected the 3550 to 857W.
my 3550 doesn't see the 857w:

however my Router sees the C3550

Im not familiar with BVIs, and am a bit confused on how the ports Fa0-->3 actually work in the 857W ...

CDP is a layer two discovery protocol, so just a proper connection SHOULD facilitate its exchange of information no?

Im assuming that if CDP is not seeing the router, then there as to be a configuration issue / and or cable issue (when i get home, ill change the cable - i JUST got the router yesterday ) .

Re: 857w <-> C3550

alright that didn't actually work ....

help me

spanning tree seems to be working.

my C3550 (root) has fa0/22 (port connected to the router) in forwarding state. however thats only true for VLAN1.
----
router output - SH spanning-tree:
Port 4 (FastEthernet3) of VLAN1 is forwarding
Port path cost 19, Port priority 128, Port Identifier 128.4.
Designated root has priority 4097, address 000c.8570.d180
Designated bridge has priority 4097, address 000c.8570.d180
Designated port id is 128.22, designated path cost 0
Timers: message age 2, forward delay 0, hold 0
Number of transitions to forwarding state: 1
BPDU: sent 3, received 37277

C3550 output - same command:
VLAN0001
Spanning tree enabled protocol rstp
Root ID Priority 4097
Address 000c.8570.d180
This bridge is the root

that allows me to conclude that they are indeed talking to each other and this has to be a L3 configuration issue.

Router#sh ip int vlan 1
Router#sh ip interface vlan 1
Vlan1 is up, line protocol is up
Internet protocol processing disabled

Router#sh ip interface f0
FastEthernet0 is up, line protocol is down
Internet protocol processing disabled
