  • Issues setting up 2509 as terminal server (I have read guide)

Here is the guide I read:

    http://www.petri.com/how-to-configur...nal-server.htm

When I try to telnet to a device connected to the octal cable using either of the two methods discussed (by hostname or ip) I received this error:

    TSRouter# telnet 172.16.1.1 2001
    Trying 172.16.1.1, 2001 ...
% Connection refused by remote host

I tried setting a password on the console port or the remote router but that did not work.

I noticed this when looking at my lines:

    TSRouter#show line

What are noise and overruns? Are they good, bad, or indifferent? Does this mean I have a bad octal cable and thats why the connection is not working?

    -Thanks
