  • Stack Switch question. Please help!

    Hi all,

I am new on Networking and this forum... I would like to add an extra switch to an existing switch stacks (3x cisco 3750 IOS version 12.2(24)SE2).

I read some document on Cisco seem that the new switch must be same IOS version...

My new switch is 3750 version 12.2(50)SE2. Is it compatible??? Please advise.

Also...if it is compatible, below steps are correct to add the extra switch?

    1. add the new switch (power off)
    2. connect stack cable to the switch
    3. power on the new switch...

    Please kindly help!!!

Here's an article in regards to adding switch stacking for 3750.

      Thanks!

I have read the link...so..it mean the master switch will download and install the IOS for the new one?

let say, I add the new 12.2(50)SE2 to the stack (3 swtiches all run IOS 12.2(24)SE2). The master will downgrade the 12.2(50) --> 12.2(24)???

Or I need to manual downgrade the new switch to 12.2(24) before connect to the stack?

      Please kindly advise!!!

Re: Stack Switch question. Please help!

The last time that I had to do it I had to login on the stack and manually run the command to downgrade the router to a like OS. It only took a matter of minutes to do.
