  • Howto shut an interface automatically when IO errors happen

    Hi there!

I would like to poll the users of this forum about the possibilities to perform a specific IOS configuration.

I have an IOS with redundant links to several switching-stacks that are connected between each other. So, spanning tree automatically drops the redundant interfaces and keeps one active to avoid loops.
My problem is that the active interface has physical errors and i need the IOS to automatically shut that interface, so that Spanning Tree picks another one.. How can i do that in IOS? In CatOS there is the "set errdisable" command, but that doesn't exist in IOS

Any tricky-trick to achieve this ?

I'd be very grateful if anyone finds a solution..

    Thank you!

    Cheers,

    Phk

If a port has physical errors why do you even use it? Either disable the port or replace the device.

The point is to prevent the situation of having a multi-link active in a damaged port...
