  • dhcp import all issue

hello i have a 837 cisco router which i use over a dsl connection,
i have a dhcp enabled in this router:

    ip dhcp pool LAN
    import all
    network 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
    default-router 192.168.1.1

but for some reason i cant get dns servers on my clients
it seems like the cisco isnt getting them after dialing:

    interface Dialer0
    ip address negotiated
    ip nat outside
    ip virtual-reassembly
    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool 1
    dialer-group 1
ppp pap sent-username user password 7 XXX

i want the clients to recieve dns servers via ISP, am i missing something here?

    Re: dhcp import all issue

If you get this working, I would like to know. I have over 40 - 871's at home offices that require me to manually edit the DHCP scope with each ISP's DNS servers.

I obtain the ISP DNS info by typing: show dhcp server

Then I manually add the dns-server and domain-name options to the DHCP scope using the info returned by the above command. Works everytime, but it would be nice to pass this info to the DHCP scope.

i found this commmand: "ppp ipcp dns request accept" it works well when added to dialer, i can also see the router really imported dns addresses and now import all really works:
      Router#show ip dhcp import

      Address Pool Name: LAN
      Domain Name Server(s): x.x.x.x x.x.x.x
im still looking for the same solution over cable virtual-ppp dialer connection.
