  • Cisco 2509 Access Server doesn't work with 2950 Switch Issue

    Please help!

I purchased a Cisco 2509 Access Server to use in my home lab. I am able to go in and out of my 3640 routers but NOT for 3 of my 2950 switches.

Does any Cisco Guru knows what must be configured on the Cisco Switch allow it to work with the Access Server?

    Below is the config:

    Cisco 2509 Access Server

Host Port Flags Age Type Address(es)
    R3 2003 (perm, OK) 0 IP
    R2 2002 (perm, OK) 0 IP
    R1 2001 (perm, OK) 0 IP
    2950SW1 2004 (perm, OK) 0 IP
    2950SW2 2005 (perm, OK) 0 IP
    2950SW3 2006 (perm, OK) 0 IP

This is what happens when I try to connect to the 2950 Switch:

    Translating "2950SW1"
    Trying 2950SW1 (, 2004)... Open
[Connection to 2950SW1 closed by foreign host]
    2950 Switch Config:
    2950SW1#show run
    Building configuration...
    Current configuration : 1303 bytes

    hostname 2950SW1
    ip subnet-zero
    ip ssh time-out 120
    ip ssh authentication-retries 3
    spanning-tree mode pvst

    spanning-tree extend system-id
    interface Vlan1
    ip address
    no ip route-cache

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Cisco 2509 Access Server doesn't work with 2950 Switch Issue

    Hi Friend

The 2509 use the reverse telnet

if you use this configuration the router try to conect the sw by the console, you dont need any configuration on the switch.

The router send the trafic by the octal cable, the octal cable must connect in each console.

If you have more questions, please write to my email with all configuration of your router and the topology of you map.
