Hi,

We currently employ static routing, however want to change over to dynamic routing using OSPF or RIP in order to achieve failover capability, however I cant see how it will work as we do not manage all of the routers in our organisation. All the routers we manage are cisco (well apart from 1 sonicwall but that's about to be replaced)

What I would like is

Site 1 router 1: OSPF
LAN1 10.2.0.0/24
LAN2 192.168.0.0/24

site 1 unmanaged Router 1: STATIC
LAN1 10.2.0.0/24
WAN offnet

Site 1 WAN Router 1: OSPF
LAN1 192.168.0.0/24
WAN Internet
WAN P2P circuit to other site

site 2 WAN Router 1: OSPF
LAN 10.1.1.0/24
WAN Internet
WAN P2P circuit to other site

site 2 unmanaged Router 2: STATIC
LAN1 10.1.1.0/24
WAN offnet

Currently there are static routes to the 2 unmanaged routers (by unmanaged I mean ones we don't manage ourselves and cant get the config changed on), however this does not provide us with failover via the other site. IE if one of the unmanged routers or the link behind it goes down we want the traffic to automatically route via the WAN P2P circuit and out via the other sites unmanaged router. Is it possible to do this with RIP or OSPF if the route to the LAN in question is not directly connected to a router providing RIP or OSPF?

Many thanks for your help in advance!
