  • 3Com Switch web management problem.

    Hii
I have a 3com 4228 manageble switch which has a web management utility to manage .

I had changed the default ip add (which was 169.254.100.100) to some different ipaddress and now i have forgotten the Ip address.

There is no button on the switch to reset it to factory defaults ..

Please suggest me any way to do so....

i tried it accessing by the default ip add which is 169.254.100.100 but its cannot be accessed.

    Thanks

      Thanks for replying

Yes the switch does have a console port but as i had mentioned in my earlier posts i have forgotten the IP address of the switch which i had changed from default..

So its not worth connecting from console as it requires ip ..

Console ports do not use IP.

Hyperterminal isn't the best and I don't know the settings but an example would be console to a PIX which uses COM1 (or whichever com port you are using) 9600 No Flow.
Press connect and then enter a couple of times and you should be able to see something, if that doesn't work try changing the speed. Maybe 19200 or 38something.

This may be relevant (look for the "Setting Up Command Line Interface Management" bit.

No probs, please let us know how you get on.
You may find the cable sitting around the box or in the bottom of the cabinet. I always had loads of them, one for every device but you only need 1 for the laptop so the rest were just left lying around!
                cheers

Different post in the General Security or Operating System involved depending on which is more relevant in your scenario.
