  • how to clear SNMP packets in 7609 routers

    Dear Friends,

I enabled SNMP community in all of my routers(7609) and I monitored network performance through my NMS. When I am giving SHOW SNMP in my router every 5 seconds this SNMP packets keep on increasing. I am scared about this bcoz this packets leads to my network down.

I want to know how can I clear the SNMP packets from my routers....

    Please advise me

The SNMP packets are not being "stored" on your router. The sh SNMP command is showing you how many SNMP packets have been sent and received. If you don't want to use SNMP then update your startup and running configs with the "no" form of any SNMP commands in the configs.

      Dear Friend,
      Thank you
I removed SNMP-SERVER COMMUNITY and checked SH SNMP still it was showing the same number of packets both input and output. How can I make it zero packets.

      Please advise me

Again, I think you are misuncerstanding of the sh SNMP command. The packets are not being "stored" on the router. The command is showing you the number of packets that have been sent or received.

If you want to clear the SNMP counters I think you need to reboot the router.
