  • Service DHCP on 2524

    Hello,

I would like to have one of my Cisco 2524 routers offer DHCP leases but it seems to lack the capability. Previously I have worked with 2611's and DHCP so I would like to know if the service availability lies with in the hardware/model or the IOS version. My "show version" command provides the following details:

    Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
IOS (tm) 3000 Software (IGS-J-L), Version 11.1(5), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

with a build date of 1996 so it's a bit old. Can I just flash a newer IOS image or have I ran out of luck (if so could someone point me in the right direction)? I apologize for my unfamiliarity with all of this, nevertheless I find myself eager to learn.

Thanks in advance for any input,
    Andrew

    Re: Service DHCP on 2524

if there is no command"service dhcp" on your 2524 router, you should upgrade your router. I consider there is some version for 2524 supports DHCP server.
As your router is old, you should check capacity of flash and memory whether them can support new IOS.
