  • Cisco 1721 series- NVRAM

    Hello to all,

I have this cisco 1721 series router which I run in my small ISP. I have this problem which I will need help if possible. Each time the router restarts I lost my configuration, that is the configuration is not loaded from NVRAM. Besides I have check the config register settings, and it is 0x2102, which means the configuration had to load from nvram under normal circumstances.
This has made me to resort in loading the configuration manually from notepad.
Please I will be greatful for any help.

Might I ask if you are saving the config to NVRAM?
    Code:
    copy run start
I don't know anything about (you or your) computers.
Research/test for yourself when listening to free advice.

If the "copy run start" doesn't work can you post the following output:

      "show ver"
"sh flash" (or was it "show flash:" or "dir flash:" )

        Thanks guys for your interventions,
I had saved the configuration by using copy run start, so when I check on the nvram by using 'show start', I see the saved configuration.
when I reboot the router, the configuration in the nvram does not load unto the ram (running config), where if you use show start, you'll see the startup config (nvram).
Remember my config register is 0x2102.
If I tried to use copy startup-config runnng-config, I get this message 'non-volatile configuration memory invalid or not present'.
I attached here the output of some command that gave results as shown.
So I can't really predict what is going wrong.

what does a dir flash: (please see the ":")

          edit:
what if you execute format flash:
please be aware you also lost you're ios so you need to upload it again via a tftp server.
          I start thinking of a currupt/broken flash....

oh, i'm not responsible for any actions...
