  • User login security on CISCO switches and routers

    Hello!

I have started working with switches and routers.

    I have 2900, 3550, 3560 series switches as well as 2600,2800,1700 and 800 routers.

I need to create security login option where by each user must have user id and password to login into the switch or router.

I also would like to enable logs so that I can monitor all major systems changes made on them.

    Please help!

    Hi

you can have TACACS+ , ACS (3.1v) configured in your network to have user based authentication. You can integrate windows ADS integrated to it as well.

RADIUS is another way to do it. There are a couple writeups on my website about how to integrate IOS devices with AD via RADIUS - http://briandesmond.com/blog/archive...o/default.aspx

For logging syslog is the usual mechanism here.
