  • Citrix External program launch abilities.

I have a client who is running all their applicaitons on a Citrix server farm located hundreds of miles away. The client wants to run a local Java application that would be launched from an application running on the remote Citrix server farm, basically givieng control to the local client. Does Citrix support an external launch/connector ability? If so can somone describe it to me in some detail and point me to some documentation?

    Best regards, Jeff

Re: Citrix External program launch abilities.

      Yuval,

I am very appreciative of the links and articles you have provided me. It has really helped accelerate my learning.

Is it possible for a remote Citrix server hosting an application launch a second application that would reside on another Citrix server? Does some sort of "global" ICA connection exist?

What concerns me is that the second application is not published on the application server where the first is running. I am looking for an application on Citrix server one launch to another application running on Citrix server two.

I have this feeling I am at the 500 level of Citrix questions. Secondly do you know of any good Citrix consultants or internal Citrix consultants that you could point me towards?

The teminology is a little new to me but the referenced documentation...

To launch the second application, the ICA client engine sends the request to the server via the seamless windows virtual channel and the WFShell (ctxnotify) starts the application on the server within the same client session. If needed, session sharing can be disabled by setting an exception flag (more on exception flags below). You can also check out this Citrix knowledgebase article that fully explains session sharing CTX159159.

Since both seamless applications share the same ICA connection, session sharing is only possible when: The second application has been published on the server where the first application’s session is running is having me beleive this may not be possible.

      Again thanks for the advice.

      Regards, Jeff Sulzner
