  • Remote connetions are no more available

    Hi,

I hope can somebody help me with this problem.

I have some TS's in administration and the workers connects remote to this server to run application with they work.

After some time the remote connetion is no more avaible, the applictions becomes unresponsive or...the sesions for printer ar no more avaible, they see the open sesions for printer but they can not use it.

    Have anybody suggestions?

    Thank in advance!

    Best Regards,

    Catalin

Re: Remote connetions are no more available

    1. Please reboot the server, backup it and install all latest Microsoft hotfixes.
    2. Change via Terminal Services Configuration the close session timeout for disconnected/unactive sessions to 5 minutes.
    3. Use RDP 5.2 on the client machine.

    Regards,

    Yuval

Can you provide more information on the network equipment (model. settings etc.) + the server hardware/drivers and if you installed the latest hotfix of MS on the server:

Re: Remote connetions are no more available

          Hello,

Thank you again Yuval for your promt answer.

I have found the cause of remote and/or printig job problems after many tests and searchs on internet.

When users leave their remote connections open on TS without working, they are disconnected after 5 min, but the printer sessions are not closed. Users connects again, new printer sessions are opened for the same printers and so the TS reaches up to 250 open printer sessions, when at this moment the server refuse to accpept any remote connections. The printer sessions opened before are not avaible and the default points to one of this and not to any new session (and that's why users can not print).

If it is usefull for somebody, you can find at this link how to end print sessions that are no more in use.
